Autumn and our secret tips

12Sep‘22

On 23 September, autumn officially begins this year - the golden season can once again be seen in its full splendour. Cool nights are preceded by sunny days, which entice you outdoors. But what can you experience in the Merano region in autumn? The best things to do are hikes, bike tours and autumn excursions with great views - the temperatures are ideal!

We are happy to reveal our insider tips, because we don't want you to miss out on anything!

You can hike in South Tyrol all year round, but hiking is even more beautiful in autumn. The leaves change colour in autumn and the air is usually clearer, allowing for a fantastic view of the mountains. Waal trails & paths between chestnut groves and vineyards are already waiting for you.

Some hiking tips and suggestions for day trips can be found on our website right here. Our concierge and reception staff will be happy to help you with further ideas and insider tips. Enjoy the best places for you in autumn and write stories 😉.

Culinary autumn in South Tyrol also offers some spectacles. How about Törggelen? Törggele time in South Tyrol begins as soon as almost all the grapes have been harvested, at the end of September. The so-called "fifth season" brings South Tyrolean delicacies such as homemade Schlutzkrapfen, dumplings, Surfleisch and house sausages with sauerkraut, sweet doughnuts and roasted chestnuts with the "Suser" ( new wine) to the table.
