MARKETS IN MERANO - THE CITY COMES ALIVE!
Already in the Middle Ages, Merano was an influential trading post and played an important role in the region's commercial activities. To this day, markets are part of this town and offer the ideal opportunity to stroll, enjoy the hustle and bustle, taste many specialities and discover many new things!
THE FRIDAY MARKET
The large weekly market in Merano is held every Friday morning on the Piazza Prader and is one of the largest and most popular markets in South Tyrol. Amidst carefully laid-out stalls and vendors offering their wares here you can find everything you could wish for! Clothes, leather goods, traditional handicrafts and local products - every week the wide range on offer attracts numerous visitors.
And on Tuesday mornings, at the same place, Piazza Prader, there is the small weekly market with a more limited number of stalls.
In addition to the large Friday market, many smaller, specialised markets on different themes are held every year. Flower markets, flea markets or gourmet markets - everyone finds the right market in Merano!
THE FARMERS' MARKET
From July to December, local farmers offer their produce at the large farmers' market. Every Saturday morning in Via Galilei - an event not to be missed for all gourmets! Fresh fruit and vegetables dye the market in a thousand colours. Between bacon, cheese and fresh baked goods, there is always something new to taste.
MM - THE MERANO MARKET
The Merano market is a weekly attraction with a focus on regionality and sustainability. From mid-March to mid-October, it takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Corso Libertà. The offerings include meat specialities such as bacon, cheese, fruit, vegetables, bread, herbs and accessories.
CHRISTMAS MARKET
A thousand lights, the scent of cinnamon and over 80 stalls decorate the spa promenade in the run-up to Christmas: this is the Merano Christmas Market, probably one of the most beautiful in the whole of South Tyrol. Just a few steps from the Classic Hotel Meranerhof, you can immerse yourself in a very special Christmas fairytale!
From sweet delicacies to hearty dishes, from traditional crafts to modern art, there is something for everyone.
