Rainy days in Merano are quite rare, but over the years we've noticed that many guests end up enjoying them just as much as the sunny ones. Instead of letting the weather dictate your plans, it's the perfect opportunity to experience a different side of the town.
The Merano Thermal Baths are naturally one of the first choices. On public holidays and weekends, however, they tend to be busier, as many locals also take the opportunity to spend a relaxing day there. On weekdays, the atmosphere is usually much calmer.
If the thermal baths are particularly busy, there are excellent alternatives. Many guests choose a wellness treatment in the Meranerhof spa or visit the Naturno Adventure Pool, which is only a short drive away.
For a relaxed afternoon, we often recommend Café Darling. Its elegant interior makes it the perfect place to enjoy a coffee, browse through a magazine or simply watch everyday life in Merano. And if you enjoy homemade cakes, you'll find excellent pastries in many cafés throughout the historic centre.
Merano also offers plenty of cultural highlights. The Palais Mamming Museum regularly surprises our guests with its modern architecture, engaging exhibition design and fascinating insights into the town's history. The Women's Museum and the temporary exhibitions at Kunst Merano Arte are also well worth a visit.
If you'd like to take a taste of South Tyrol home with you, the arcades of Merano are home to several outstanding specialty shops. Pur Südtirol, Meraner Weinhaus, Signorvino and Siebenförcher are among our favourite places for local wines, cured meats, cheeses and other regional delicacies.
